BEHIND THE SCENES: ALYSSA NICOLE FALL 2014 ‘STILL COLD’ LOOKBOOK

In my 6 years of experience shooting lookbooks, I finally have photo shoot prepping down to a science. Before each shoot I prepare with my list of handy things to cary on location. Snips, double stick tape, tissue, bobby pins, all ‘must haves’ while shooting on location. I no longer let my pride get the best of me – I come prepared wearing the most comfortable outfit & a tiny backpack (as opposed to a fanny pack) to conveniently hold my necessities as I know I’ll be running around snipping threads and lint rolling dresses during the shoot. Still – with days of preparation for the photo shoot – I’ve come to learn at least one thing will go wrong during the shoot.

ALYSSA NICOLE FALL 2014 LOOKBOOK

Shooting a lookbook is at the top list of my priorities every season. My lookbooks are the most important part of finalizing the collection because it’s how I present my vision for the season. I had created a mood board with ethereal photographs, abstract paintings, and starlight all in shades of moody blues which translated into the color palette for the line.

The past few months have been a whirlwind to say the least. Every season it always is – designing a collection always drains a lot of energy out of me. Over the years I’ve met many people who ask questions about life as a designer – so this season, I thought there would be no better way then to document the entire seasons process but here in my Designer Diary!
