Whenever I drift off into a daydream, I find myself here, lying among the beach grass at seaside. The crisp winter salt air at Ocean Beach reminds me why Northern California is the perfect place to live with my ethereal design aesthetic. The past few days in 2017 has me thinking a lot about my new years resolutions and the choices I have made in the last year (specifically on staying in SF vs LA). It feels right although at times I feel like I don’t belong in Silicon Valley – even though here I am – working in it everyday. The past year taught me that truly anything can be possible. Anything beyond our wildest dreams – good and bad.
Growing up as a millennial we’ve been taught that anything is possible, literally any of us can live the American Dream – although you might just have to be a bit crazy to pursue it. I’ve been starting to wonder about the dream and the cost it comes at, whether it’s worth it or not. But what else would I be doing? In 2017 I will have officially designed a collection every season for 9 years. That’s a lot of years to spend daydreaming and designing and I wouldn’t have it any other way honestly. And of course I have a new collection coming soon in SS17 – so stay tuned! Xo, Alyssa Nicole
